Morning sun on my drive from my cabin. First stop: coffee shop for caffeine and wifi.
Next stop: Dinosaur National Monument!
Nice and informative. Pretty low-key exhibit…
… until you lose count of the number of bones you can see in this one slab. Definitely A LOT of fossils here!
I love me a good reproduction and staging.
Nice trail to walk down from the quarry building. I took the tram uphill.
Just the right amount of cloud cover, and it wasn’t too hot yet. I am glad I did this one in the morning. And brought my camelback.
There are so many ‘cartoon’ dinosaur sculptures in town, it was nice to see a ‘serious’ stegosaur outside the Visitors Center.
I had time to check out the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum in Vernal, UT. Air conditioned, well thought-out presentations of the fossils and petroglyphs that are in the area.
Welcome to Midway! I have a soft spot for this town, and it was lovely to visit today.
And mostly for this – the Homestead Crater Mineral Dome.
A little weird, but super cool.
“The Crater is a geothermal spring, hidden within a 55-foot tall, beehive-shaped limestone rock located on the Homestead property.”
Dinner at Twisted Fern. Delicious!
